Since Samsung entered the android based smartphone market it has been doing quite well. The company amazed the world by selling over 3 million Galaxy S II Smartphones in a period of less than two months. After the success of the Galaxy S II in a market full of dual core processor smartphones, Samsung decided to come up with another android based smartphone, the Galaxy Z. Galaxy Z just like its predecessor, is powered by a dual core processor.
Galaxy Z is meant to fit in the price bracket between the Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II. One amazing fact is that Galaxy Z has almost every feature that Galaxy S II has but in lesser quantities. Both are dual core smartphones and quite similar in appearance. Samsung corporation has told that the components in the Galaxy SII produced the popularity of the phone hence decided to retain the same features in the Galaxy Z but reduced them a little bit so as to take care of the lower pricing intended for Galaxy Z.
Galaxy Z comes with a comparatively cheaper SC-LCD display as compared to the more expensive AMOLED display used in Galaxy S II. The display of the galaxy Z is also smaller in size as compared to that of the S II; 4.2 against 4.3 inches. The resolution of both smartphones is the same at 480x 800 pixels.
The dual core processor is present in both Samsung smartphones although there are slight changes. S II has a ARM cortex A9 dual core processor with a clock speed of 1.2GHz while Galaxy Z has a similar dual core processor but with a slower clock speed of 1GHz. This means that the Galaxy Z processor is less powerful as compared to that of its predecessor.
Galaxy Z has a Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset and a Ge Force GPU while the galaxy S II has Exynos chipset and the Mali 400 GPU. Many take the S II combination to be more powerful than the galaxy Zones but both have a reliable performance.
When it comes to internal storage options the two Samsung dual core smartphones differ again. Galaxy S II has two internal storage options; 16GB and 32 GB, while galaxy Z has only one, the 8GB. Just like the storage the camera for the Z is less powerful than that of the S II. Galaxy Z has a 5 mega pixel camera while the S II has an 8 mega pixel camera.
One would expect the Galaxy Z to be lighter than its predecessor on which it is modeled but this is not the case. Galaxy Z is actually heavier than the S II thanks to the SC-LCD display and the Tegra 2 chipset. Both phones come with the android 2.3.3 preloaded. While the S II has the readers, social and the game hub, Galaxy Z has the music hub which allows one search for music online, download it and play it.
In conclusion we can say that the Galaxy Z was developed for those people who would wish to own a dual core android powered Samsung but feel that the S II is too expensive.
